DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
The agricultural education department at Carroll High School has access to several facilities that aid in increasing hands-on student learning, classroom and laboratory experiences, and content knowledge of the courses offered to students in agricultural education.
CARROLL AGRICULTURE BUILDING
The Carroll Agriculture Building is the central location for the department, and houses the
agricultural education courses. Students have access to both a classroom and an agriscience
laboratory, which allows them to cover topics in all eight agricultural education courses.
MECHANICS LABORATORY (SHOP)
The mechanics laboratory/shop is attached to the Carroll Agriculture Building, and is used
primarily by students in the Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics course. Students use this
facility to learn about welding, small gas engines, metalworking, tools, and other areas of
agricultural mechanics.
GREENHOUSE
The department owns and operates a greenhouse near Carroll High School, which is used
primarily by students in the Plant Science course. Students use the greenhouse to learn about
plant production, maintenance, propagation and germination, and retail plant sales.
AREA TEST PLOTS
The department, in conjuction with the Carroll Area FFA chapter, manages several plots which
help aid instruction in crop production and agronomical sciences. Test plots are also examined
by students in several courses as a way of helping understanding concepts in plot management
and crop science.
