Serving as an officer is a highlight for many high school FFA members. There is a level of service that is expected of officers that participate in activities and represent FFA at the chapter, district, state, and national levels. In their year of service, officers have the opportunity to influence many others around them by coordinating meetings and social events for members, fulfilling essential tasks for the good of the chapter or association and its members, and completing other activities in their school and community. If you are interested in pursuing an officer position, be sure to contact Mr. Eischeid!

Carroll Area FFA Chapter officers are elected in March. Each year, the chapter elects a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, reporter, sentinel, historian, student advisor, and plot managers. Officer applications are due at the February chapter meeting. Chapter officer candidates must be in grades 9-11 and hold at least their Greenhand FFA Degree; the Chapter FFA Degree is required for president and vice president candidates.

Southwest FFA District officers represent over thirty FFA chapters in southwest Iowa. District officers elect a vice president, secretary, treasurer, reporter, and sentinel each March at the district leadership conference. District president positions are filled by the six state vice presidents representing each FFA district. Officer applications are due in early January and should be sent to the retiring district president. District officers must be sophomores or juniors that hold their Chapter FFA Degree.

Iowa FFA Association officers represent over 16,000 members and 248 chapters in the state of Iowa. State officer positions are elected in April at the state leadership conference and include president, six vice presidents (one for each district), secretary, and reporter. Officer applications are due in mid-February to the state association office. President candidates must be retiring state officers; no state officer may be elected prior to their senior year of high school.

National FFA Organization officers represent over 760,000 members and 52 state associations that make up the entire FFA organization. These officers must be former state officers and formally selected as candidates by their respective states. Officers are elected at the national FFA convention in October; officer positions include president, secretary, and four vice presidents (one for each region of the country).
